Will too much vitamin d cause weight gain?

Read it in a mag, but was previously under the impression that too little vitamin d is linked to obesity amongst other things.

The basis of he argument was that like k, a & e - d is not water soluble and is stored in the liver (true) but this is what causes weight gain.

Can not collaborate through googling.

  1. I’m not making an argument for or against – nor doing the research required to make an argument.

They claim that 85% of people are vitamin d deficient.

66% of the U.S. is overweight

If too much vitamin d caused weight gain, wouldn’t 66% of the population not be deficient?

this study makes me go hmmmmmmmm though –

obesity in females appears to be protective against vitamin D deficiency in the population studied.

I still do not think vit.D sufficiency causes hormonal imbalance but that since excess hormones are stored in fat cells that females have a greater capacity to store fat.

  2. No. If you expose at least half your body to natural sunlight in the summer you’ll manufacture about 20,000 iu of D3 in 20 minutes, far more than most people supplement with — 5000 iu daily is the recommended winter maintenance dose for anyone living north of Atlanta’s latitude.
Mercola.com has good info. on D3 with research links.
