Will taking prenatal vitamins while taking depo provera injections make the injection less effective?

My girlfriend gets depo-provera injections. She wants to take prenatal vitamins to stimulate hair growth. Will that make the birth control less effective, or are the progesterone levels still too high for the vitamins to make a difference? Basically what I'm asking is if I should start pulling out once she starts taking them. I don't want to ask her because I don't know if that is a stupid question, or seem selfish.

  1. Short answer: No. Prenatal vitamins have no effect on a woman’s fertility. Her birth control will be just as effective. I would caution her though. Prenatal vitamins can be bad for women who aren’t pregnant. They have lots of Iron and Folic Acid in them which can be dangerous. Have her read up on it or talk to her doctor before she starts taking them.

  2. The vitamins will not effect the birthcontrol at all.
Just cuz they’re prenatal doesn’t mean they make her get pregnant, just so you know. It’s like if she took flinstone vitamins… Eating a gummy fred flinstone isn’t going to make her birth control any less effective.
