Why do Vitamin B supplements differ so much in the amount of vitamins they contain?

For example, some B-complex vitamin pills contain 10 mcg of B12, yet others contain 1000 mcg. That's a factor of 100 difference. Same goes with other B vitamins. Why such a big difference? The recommended daily intake of B12 is 2-3 mcg, isn't 1000+ mcg too extreme? How much should I take?

  1. its because their purpose varies. for example, my b vitamin is designed to raise your metabolism and promote weightloss, so it has 2000 mcg of B12. its not bad for you, what isn’t used is just flushed out of your system.

  2. Idk, but they taste so damn good!!!!! :)

  3. besides different companies having their own ideas of what the amounts should be, there are times where some people have a need for more of certain vitamins because of issues or problems that are helped by certain vitamins then those people are looking for supplements with different amounts in them

treating any conditions with supplements should only be done under supervision of someone knowledgeable
