What's the best way to lower blood pressure in a 60 year old man?

What has worked for you, loved ones or people you know?

The natural way, without prescription medication.

He has a high blood pressure of 156.

Does alcohol increase your blood pressure? What about eating pork (pig) products?

  1. Yes alcohol increase your blood pressure. pork, in general does not. Becoming obese will raise it as well.

Healthy Body Mass Index (weight), No drinking, No smoking are ways to improve BP.
Check out heart and stroke foundations website. High blood pressure affects the heart obviously, and similar precautions for heart disease should be followed.

  2. If he doesn’t have heart disease or blocked arteries, a change in diet, and light exercise will help. Cut down on fatty foods, salt, and alcohol, which have all been shown to cause hypertension. A doctor will be able to give a more detailed dietary regime.

  3. He should avoid foods which raise blood pressure (salty foods such as processed meat, snacks, even V-8 juice) and eat foods which lower blood pressure (those high in potassium).
