  1. As you may know, blood contains millions of red blood cells. In each red blood cell are about a billion atoms of iron. The job of the iron atoms is to carry oxygen from your lungs to your cells. If you don’t get enough iron your body can’t make enough red blood cells, which means your blood can’t carry enough oxygen. The result is that you lack energy and get tired very easily. You may also have pale skin. This is what being anemic is.
The best food to get iron from is meat, especially red meat like beef. If you don’t get enough iron in your food you need to take iron supplements (pills or capsules).
Also, vitamin B12 is necessary for your body to make red blood cells. If you don’t get enough from food (it also comes from meat) you may need to take supplements of this vitamin as well.

  2. Iron and your Dr should say how much. I take 325 Mill a day because my periods were so bad with my anemia. Talk to your dr. I also crunch ice all the time it is a anemia sign.
