What vitamins should I be taking?
I am trying to be more healthy and personally hate doctors. Is there a general concoction of vitamins that are good for people to take? I just bought a bottle of vitacraves about a week ago and have been taking those since but of course don't really notice a difference. I also take melatonin but am possibly looking for something else to help me fall asleep because I think I am getting use to the dose I am taking. Thanks :)

I take vitamin c, niacin (start with niacinamide), zinc, magnesium, sometimes ecchinacea, vitamin d, fish oil capsules (really good for omega3′s!), sometimes chlorella. But it’s not a good idea to take them all at once…these are just some that I have on hand. And for sleeping, I recommend advil pm.

vitamins is a great way of staying healthy. But doctors are trained professionals and there to help. It’s all about feeling great about yourself. What would happen if you take the wrong vitamins and wound of sick. Who are you going to call. You need a doctor hun. to give you more pertinent details.
Your yahoo fam, were not doctors.
Good luck.
I can’t believe u would rather get information from total strangers than a professional doctor.

Hello,
I don’t like doctor either but sometimes we need them…
If you want to take vitamins I suggest you choose a high quality supplements. Bio availability, which is the % of a dose that can be absorbed by the body and utilized by the cells is the most important thing to consider when you choose a brand of vitamins. Another thing to consider is the form…you should not take pure vitamin A…can be toxic…choose beta-carotene instead. Calcium ascorbate is the most assimilated type of vitamin C. Taking pharmaceutical grade fish oil for example will assure you that there is no contaminant such as mercury which can lead to Alzheimer’s.
Taking the organic forms of the mineral compared to its inorganic forms is better ( their rate of intestinal absorption are higher)…and so on.
Melatonin: not a bad idea but again you should choose a good brand. Melatonin is a hormone secreted by the pineal gland (in the brain). Cheap brands contain animal products. Taking melatonin will be effective only if your melatonin level is low.
I personally take high quality vitamins since a few years and can see the difference.
A good book to help you choose your vitamins is the Comparative Guide to Nutritional Supplements. It’s a compendium of 1500 products (supplements) available in the US and Canada.
The priority before taking anything is to be well informed….
Hope that helps
