What should an EMT do if patient distolice blood pressure is higher then 110mm?


What should an emt do if patient distolice blood pressure is higher then 110mm? Also what should an EMT do when the Systolic pressure is lower then 90 mm?

  1. A basic EMT can’t really do anything for either patient. Monitor & transport.

    A paramedic MIGHT have a medication to lower the BP in the first patient. IV fluids MIGHT be indicated in the second.

    If neither patient is symptomatic, then an argument could be made for doing nothing.
