What kind of vitamins should I take?


I was told to start taking vitamins for my health but I don't know what kind to buy. I'm seventeen years old. I don't eat red meat (beef, ham) or fish. I don't drink milk either. I don't do anything physically active other than gym class and surfing occasionally. your answers would be very helpful.

  1. Buy a good quality multi-vitamin/mineral. Take daily with food.

    In addition take a Vit. B 50 Complex; Vit C 2000mg; "Citracal Petites" (calcium & Vit. D3) take 2 tabs 3X/day with food; VitE 400IUs; Selenium 200mcg; Zinc 30-50mg; Omega 3 Fish Oils 3000mg/day.

  2. Take a vitamin that will help you meet your daily needs for B-12. If you are eating enough dark greens (ie spinach) you should be ok for calcium, but as a backup it’s good to have in a vitamin too.

    Always take your vitamins with food, and preferably something that contains fat (healthy fat ofcourse! like avacados) so the fat soluble vitamins can get into your system. Otherwise they won’t absorb.

  3. Those that is packed w/ all sort of vitamins from A-Z. Like Centrum.

    I’m currently taking vitamins c -2caps per day and find it really effective in boosting up my immune system from common colds & flu. Aside from that centrum but its hard to swallow and fish liver oil supplement.

  4. The best thing to take is a multi-vitamin especially with all the B vitamins which you don’t get because you don’t eat red meat. Basic over-the-counter would be easiest to start, One-a-day, Centrum A-Z, or you could go to a health food store and ask for recommendations.

    take the vitamins with or after food – never on an empty stomach or you’ll regret it trust me. And you can make a routine of taking them Monday-Friday and off weekends, that’s an easy way to get into the habit. Just in case you have a hard time remembering to take vitamins, use this rule, when you think of them take them, and if you miss a few days, don’t stress, just start taking them again.
