What is the difference between these vitamins?

I had a recipe that called for Vitamin C powder and I accidentally bought Buffered Vitamin C complex powder. What are, if any, any differences between the two and do you think that my recipe will be fine with the C complex? Thanks.

  1. Vitamin C is ascorbic acid. Because it’s an acid, it can sometimes aggravate people’s stomachs.

In a buffered Vitamin C complex, the ascorbic acid is bound to another molecule to make it no longer acidic. Most commonly, you’ll see it as calcium ascorbate – which is Vit C bound to calcium. This type of Vit C will be easier on the stomach for those who experience burning/irritation with plain Vit C.

Regarding your "recipe"… well I’ve no idea! It depends on what’s in your combo and why you’re taking it. :)

  2. Buffered Vitamin C Powder contains four buffering minerals (Calcium,Potassium,Magnesium,Zinc) in addition to ascorbic acid. When mixed with water, this product produces a reduced-acid solution that is non-irritating to the stomach and intestinal lining. The minerals also make it a more pleasant-tasting and healthful drink.
