What is a good diet for a pregnant woman who needs to gain weight?

I am actually underweight b/c I have some stomach issues (gastritis & IBS). But now I have to eat to get the proper nutrients for the baby. Does anyone know a good diet to follow... prefereably including an "example menu" or a website where I can find one? I take a vitamin - but it only has 400 mcg of folic acid & I need double that (the prenatal vitamins mess me up - so I'm on 1/2 the dose). I know I spinach is good. What else?
Also, what is fish is low in mercury? Is it okay to eat the imitation krab meat?

  1. have you tried some boost or ensure? i know it doesn’t taste very well if you don’t like the taste try carnation instant breakfast it taste really good like milkshakes and it is fattening you can even add ice cream to it hope this helps and good luck.

  2. Consult with your OB/GYN regarding what kind of supplements and dietary additions that would not compromise your health issues while offering your baby the optimum of calories while developing.

Some liquid supplements may contain things that will irritate your IBS symptoms.

There are not any blanket remedies for this since every woman is very differnet in terms of what her needs nad the needs of her developing baby are.

In general, eating foods that you already like which do not irritate your body can simply be increased in frequency and/or amount in order to increase caloric intake.
