What does the hospital do if you go in because your blood pressure is extremely high?

My blood pressure is extremely high and im shaky and have chest pains.

I want to go to the hospital but i'm wondering what will they do ? Will they keep me over night ? Does anyone know ?

I would really appreciate it. Thanks.

  1. They will do an EKG and give you either some lasix (makes you pee) or some blood pressure meds, or both. They will send you home unless the EKG shows a big problem. I take my mother to the ER probably 6 times a year for this and they rarely keep her.

  2. Not sure what the hospital will do but high blood pressure could lead to a stroke. Better to get it checked out than risk that. Good luck.
