What could be the cause of a very low Vitamin D level in recent blood work?

I have Rheumatoid Arthritis, and I am 27 (I have had it since the age of 7). My recent blood work just came back showing very low Vitamin D levels, even though they were normal 3 months ago. I have to go on Vitamin D treatments for the next 16 weeks. I am just nervous because I have not been feeling good lately and I don't know if there could be something else going on. Can anyone help with some insight?

  1. Try getting out in the sun for about 15 minutes a day, that should help.

  2. Are you sure you’re taking in enough vitamin D? If you have such low vitamin D levels, you might be prone to disease. I don’t think there would be an immediate cause to lower your levels so much.
