What can I take temporarily to relieve stress?
Basically I am quitting my job to stay at home and am really excited. But I have two weeks left at work. I am a department manager and the stress is getting to me. Last night I was almost asleep then suddenly everything hit me at once and I could feel my heart pounding and the stress building. Today at work I had to keep telling myself that it's only two more weeks I can make it. Anyway I'm looking for anything preferably over the counter, vitamins, health store stuff etc. to get me through the next two weeks. We are also packing to move. We move the day after I finish work so anyway I'm stressed. Any ideas? Thanks.

This is not a pill but yoga works really well and it will help you sleep!

Yeah, I second that… just smoke some grass.

This is counter intuitive, but completely on track- exercise will reduce stress and give you better sleep too :)

If you need relief immediately, try taking a deep breath. Otherwise, as uncreative as it may sound, a hot shower or a nap work for me when I’m dealing with that

hot bath – first line of defense!

Why don’t you go ahead and quit and get a head start on packing? A few more dollars is not worth the hassle.
Sounds to me you are having anxiety attacks. Stay away from caffeine, nicotine, and sugars.

I find that Chamomile tea helps me calm down. I sweeten it with honey or sugar and it helps me relax. I’m an insomniac, and sometimes, it helps me get some sleep so I swear by it. Good luck, and if all else fails, you should try to meditate.

I get sudden anxiety at times and I often have trouble sleeping. I have an emergency supplements when it gets too bad. I use:
taurine tablets, bought online from GNC
magnesium, I hear is good for calming down
decaffeinated green tea, very important even the ritual of making the tea seems to set your mind into more structured direction
That seems to do it for me, hope it helps

Taking medication to relieve stress in my mind has always seems like the easier but worse off approach.
It’s only 2 weeks, so like you said you’re excited that you’re leaving. Try taking that energy and channeling it, such as thinking about what you could be doing in 2 weeks time when you’re home and free. Better yet start it now in order to get into a rhythm and keep you pre occupied with something good.
Maybe take up a hobby, yoga or some kind of sport. Or even using your spare time to plan the wonderful activities (may cause more stress though).

Try listening to Mozart’s music while doing deep breathing at the same time. To do the deep breathing just inhale through your nose hold and and release slowly the air by pursed lips.

Walking. yoga, cardio, chamomile tea, sex, talk to someone about your stress, quit your job now and get going with the packing, hire a friend or two to help you pack, and deep breathing exercises… I am not sure if there are any vitamins or natural supplements out to help with stress… but you may have to chek into it. Good luck

You are eating and sleeping inmeadiately, don’t do that, that are those gases pounding your heart when you lay down.
If you can’t avoid to sleep when you get home, and after you have dinner, then eat soft meals without milk, and drink always
apple smashed juice. Drink balm tea often, and when you get home put some music. Furthermore you need someone to do the house and meals for you, because it seems you are doing too much by yourself.
Get well. A bless
