What can I do to lower my blood pressure? Is 142 over 83 normal for a 29 female?
High blood pressure does run in my family, especially on my dads side of the family. Last month I went to the doctor and he said it was a little high, but since I had the flu he didn't get too worried about it, but wanted me to keep checking it. I've been keeping an eye on it, and its always been in the prehypertentia category but now today if fell in the stage 1. I know diet is the best answer, but am I worrying about nothing?

A BP of 142/83 is pre-hypertensive. Normal rates are 90/60 to 120/80 so you are borderline. Avoid salt, cold cuts, fast foods, soda (especially diet soda) caffeine (this includes chocolate) drink plenty of water to pee out the salt you have in your body. No smoking or alcohol. All this will help bring your BP down and especially NO worrying. Just do the things to lower it.

140 is the border to high. You want to be under that. Try for 120.

You want to try to be down around 120/80. I would suggest trying to lower your blood pressure naturally. Here are some good tips that you might find helpful http://lowerbloodpressurewithoutmedication.blogspot.com/
