Taking 5-HTP if under 18 years of age?

What could be the negative effects associated with someone under 18 taking Natrol 5-HTP which contains per tablet: 10mg Vitamin B-6 (from Pyridoxine Hydrochloride) ; 200mcg Folic Acid ; 50mcg Vitamin B-12 (Cyanocobalamin) ; 50mg 5-HTP (derived from Griffonia simplicifolia) (seed) ; 50mg Suntheanine L-Theanine.

  1. Nothing. It is a perfectly healthy supplement and none of the ingredients in that formula would be considered unsafe in any teenager. The 5-HTP is a pre-cursor to Serotonin, but the body will only create as much as it needs, so there would be no adverse effects from it either.

Perhaps some slight sedation at most.
