What vitamins and supplements can I take for prostate health?
Is it true there’s no point in taking vitamins because your body can’t break them down?
Hi everyone.
In my anatomy and physiology class the professor told us that there is no point in taking vitamins and supplements because your body can't break down vitamins. I'm a little disappointed because I've been taking vitamins for years. Does anybody know if this is true or not?

Is it ok to take multiple vitamins at the same time? how much?
I have been told by someone at my local nutrition center that I need to take about 4 or 5 different vitamins and supplements. Is it ok to take many different vitamins at the same time or are they just trying to sell to me? If I need them, how much should I take?

Is my brand of Glucosamine Sulfate all right?
Yes, I know, another Glucosamine question. Anyhow, I've been using GNC brand Glucosamine Sulfate for the past 1.5 weeks. However, in doing research online, I came across a page that says to avoid Glucosamine products that have 2KCL or 2NACL on the labels. Well, I looked at my GNC label, and it says .2KCL. Does this mean that I have a cheaper brand of Glucosamine Sulfate? Will it still work?
I thought GNC was a quality store, since they specialize in vitamins and supplements. But am I being ripped off?
By the way, on the label it says "Glucosamine Sulfate .2KCL" It doesn't say "Glucosamine 2KCL"
So am I getting the Glucosamine Sulfate (the best stuff), or am I getting the least effective form?

This is a condition that baffles Dr.'s and it is NOT as prior answered people just complaining. People need to do some homework before they start stating comments like the first one.
Freelance I sympathize with you, I have it also, along with osteoporosis and scoliosis. I take several med's for this but lately there has been news of vitamins and supplements that will just about cure it so you can return to a ((normal)) life. P.S. Nice to see your reply being you know it exists as I do...unlike last writer.

Where can I buy vitamins online by searching by dosage?
There's a lot of vitamins and supplements on the market that offer too much or too little of the specified ingredient. Fortunately, I know precisely the mg/IU/etc. to get a therapeutic benefit without hitting the UL since I spend a day every week at the NLM. Unfortunately, it takes forever to weed through a website looking for the correct and least expensive product.
Are there any sites where I can search by the amount of the ingredient?
(For example, somewhere where I can search for 370mg of Vitamin E and receive results only less than or equal to that, or search for 30-100mg of CoQ-10 and get results in that range.)
What do you think of the Cochrane database report?

Which multivitamins/supplements are truly necessary?
With so many choices for multivitamins and supplements out there, what exactly should I be looking for in a multivitamin or supplement? A friend told me that walmart brand multivitamins don't do anything because they don't put enough vitamins and minerals in there. Whats the difference between that and something that costs 3x as much at a health food or vitamin store? Are the expensive ones truly necessary, or is it ok to take something from walmart?
Also, which supplements are necessary? I take flax/fish/borage oil supplements every day in addition to my multivitamins. Ive also heard things about probiotics and digestive enzymes. Are those good to take as well? What types, or doesn't it matter? If anyone is a dietician who can specifically explain the difference in vitamins and supplements, that would be great!
