Can a vitamin d deficiency affect fertility?

My husband and I have been trying to have another baby for over a year, we even tried fertility treatment but nothing worked and no one could seem to figure out why we were not conceiving. We did know that my progesterone was low but that was it. Even a RX for that didn't work. After giving up for a while I found that I have a vitamin d deficiency and have had it for well over a year...could this be why we have not conceived?

How soon do you feel the effects of vitamin D?

I have a vitamin D deficiency and have been prescribed 50,000 units of vitamin D twice a week. Will there be any immediate effects when I start taking it? Or do you just start to feel better gradually?

Colds in the winter?

Does cold weather really give you a cold/flu? To late to answer to last post.

Because of the lack of sun exposure in the winter we get colds.

We would be healthier if we took cod liver oil in the winter months (Vitamin-D). The best part is that it supports the immune system and helps prevent colds and infections as well as middle ear infections.

We need 20 minutes of sunlight a day to provide adequate vitamin D levels. Ultraviolet light is subdivided into UVA and the even shorter-wavelength UVB radiation. UVB is the component that initiates Vitamin-D production in the skin.

We also store the vitamin D for up to 4 months in our fatty tissues. Most of us run low by February.

Although everyone is vulnerable to vitamin-D deficiency, especially in winter, certain groups are particularly predisposed. First, when exposed to the same amount of sunlight, elderly individuals produce only 20% of the vitamin-D young adults do. As a result, more than half of individuals older than 65 are vitamin-D deficient.

My Vitamin D level was low enough that my Dr.prescribed 50000 IUD a week, could this contribute to depression?

Having a vitamin D deficiency, can it cause depression?

can I add water to thin my indoor tanning lotion?

I tan once a week during the winter to help with a vitamin D deficiency. I also have severe seasonal depression, and the light helps me when I cannot get enough natural sunlight during the winter. It is doctor recommended since I tend not to absorb supplements and since I'm lactose intolerant. I use a indoor lotion called Zero 2 Sexy Mocha madness (or something similar) The only problem is, the lotion is soo thick that I have to add a little water to it to get the lotion out of the bottle. I've been doing this for a few weeks and haven't seen decrease or increase in the effects on my skin. Is this ok to do? I would buy another lotion, except I like this one. It is only 9.99 instead of 40+ dollars. I buy it at sally beauty instead of the salon since all the lotions at my salon are super expensive. What do you think about adding the water?

Is it bad to take large doses of Vitamin D?

My mom thinks I have a Vitamin D deficiency. I've had panic attacks for many years and she swears that if I take a Vitamin D supplement, it'll help drastically. She has a supplement called "Vitamin D3." It's, oh, 1,000 - something? Would that be too much to take?
Oh, that's comforting...Should I not take it then?

Can Vitamin D deficiency cause hair loss?

Can Vitamin D deficiency cause hair loss?
I've been experiencing gradual hair thinning for close to 2 years now. It's not very noticeable to others, but it is to me. During those two years, a little over a year ago my mom passed away.. prior to that I dropped out of school to take care of her so I was experiencing a lot of stress during the past two years. (I'm 20 by the way.) I went to the doctor's recently, and my ferretin levels (iron stores) were at about 20.7 with a reference range of 11-370.. so it's on the low end. My doctor prescribed 975 mg of ferrous sulfate a day, with 500 mg of vitamin c for better absorption. I've been taking it for a month, and have noticed my hair looking a little healthier... but, I haven't noticed any regrowth. During the past two years, I've become somewhat of a homebody.. while I was taking care of my mom I rarely went out, and after she passed, I was severely depressed and stayed in ALL the time. Only recently have I been getting out a little more, but still not that much. I haven't gotten my Vitamin D levels checked yet, but considering the circumstances (I don't drink milk, get out in the sun rarely, and live in the NW) I feel like I might be low in Vitamin D as well.

I'd like to know if anyone has experienced hair thinning due to Vitamin D deficiency and if it has gotten better from taking supplements. I've read online that Vit D deficiency can cause hair loss, but I'd like to hear a real experience with it.

Thanks :)

What can cause severe vitamin D deficiency?

I was recently diagnosed with severe vitamin D deficiency. What could be causing this?

For months I have been in a lot of pain, so I am also wondering if the vitamin D units prescribed will help?

I have questions about Vitamin D Deficiency?

Hi, I was just diagnosed with Vitamin D Deficiency, and the doctor has put me on pills. I'm not sure how much the dose is, but I just started them.

Okay, so a couple of months ago, I started to really feel bad. My joints and back started hurting, and my energy level was down. I have manic depression, and I started having even more suicidal thoughts and less happy times. I also started throwing up a lot.

This just started recently, though - every time I drink anything except water, I have a gag reflex, and sometimes I even throw up, depending on when I last ate. Is that a symptom of Vitamin D Deficiency?

Also, can Vitamin D Deficiency impair weight loss? About three months ago, I'd lost 20lbs. But ever since all this has began, I haven't lost a pound, (in fact, I gained 9lbs back), no matter how well I watch what I eat.

Thank you for your time!
I'm in the sun at least four hours a day. I own horses, and I also own dogs.
