Does a multi vitamin have all the vitamins you need? Should you be taking additional targeted vitamins?

I know you can be deficient in certain areas (like Vitamin D, etc), so I understand taking an extra dose in those cases. But in general, is taking extra vitamin C or anything else a waste of time since the multivitamin has the needed amounts? Any recommendations for supplements to take on top of the mult? Thanks! Andrew

how does temperature affect a vitamin C supplement?

I found a bottle of vitamin C capsules that had gone missing during my last move and spent the hot summer months in the garage. I know that the molecule is fragile, and cooking destroys it in food, but will moderately high temperature (we were in the low 100's Fahrenheit all summer) have an adverse effect on it? Should I go ahead and use them, or just throw them out and get new?

Is it true that Vitamin C can curb heroin withdrawal symptoms substantially?

I have this reference like book called “The Complete Book of Vitamins” It goes through hundreds of ailments and vitamin cures for them, etc. It claims some remarkable results detoxing heroin addicts with large doses of vitamin c. Being an addict I think this sounds to good to be true. Has anyone else heard such a thing?

Does anybody know if vitamin C can really cause kidney stones?

I have researched this topic extensively, and it seems every body has a different view on the topic. I personally believe that it doesn't, because i was taught that vitamin C was converted to oxalates after if is outside the body in your urine. Does anybody know for a fact if it does or doesn't? Any help will be appreciated.
Woops i mean everybody.

Can vitamin C be absorbed in the skin as a topical?

Is there any real proof that vitamin c(or any vitamins or minerals or proteins(e.g. collagen)) are absorbed in the skin and the nutrients used by the body?

My question is concerned with the effectiveness of these lotions that make all these claims with the vitamins. I'm not sure if the body can unitize them(I thought it had to do it through digestion).

Any help or references would be greatly appreciated.

How much vitamin C is TOO much to consume in any given day?

I usually drink a lot of orange juice or 2-3 packets of Emergen-C at the first sign of cold or sickness, but is there a such thing as too much vitamin c?
Dave87g: Emergen-C packets have 1,000mg, so 2-3 is 2,000-3,000mg
