Is there anything I can do to raise my blood pressure when it drops very low?

Although my blood pressure tends to run a little low, I had a stroke about a yr ago & am diabetic. On insulin, but well controlled. But there are times, especially at night, when my BP drops down to around 70/55 & I feel like crap! Is there any way I can raise it when that happens safely that anyone knows of? Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Is it possible to cure ancestral high blood pressure completely?

My father-in-law has ancestral high blood pressure. Also his heart is not healthy, so sometimes it affects the blood pressure to get higher either. Now when something happens or if his blood pressure gets higher he has to take really powerful medicine, which is not good for his other bodies. Even sometimes when his blood pressure gets higher he gets really close to the stroke. I could feel that. So my question is "Is it possible to cure ancestral high blood pressure, also high blood pressure that caused by heart abnormality?"

What cold medicines can my father on blood pressure medicines with glaucoma take?

My father is 79 and takes blood pressure medicine so he can't take any of the regular over the counter cold medicines. Because of glaucoma he can't take Coricidin which is the usual alternative for people in his situation. Is there any medication, over the counter or by prescription, that he could take for coughing and congestion? I worry that on about the third night of not being able to sleep he'll just not care and take one of the regular cold medicines and suffer a stroke or whatever adverse effects there are.

What can cause a person to swing from abnormally high blood pressure to abnormally low blood pressure?

The person in question is female, small in stature, and 78 years old with no known conditions other than osteoporosis. Recently she has been experiencing attacks of alternating hypertension and hypotension, and her doctor doesn't have a clue, although he has confirmed that she has not yet had a stroke.

By high blood pressure I'm talking about 190/112 which triggers a trip to the emergency room, then the next day or later in the day it will be extremely low, below normal.

What does it mean when your blood pressure is very low, extremely low?

My friend is in ICU right now, they cannot raise her blood pressure. It it bouncing from being very low 77 over 30 then back up in the 90's only for a few minutes while they are working on her. What can result from not being able to raise the blood pressure? Comma, stroke, other? Not sure. Also she is diabetic and normally her sugar levels are high but right now they are low.

could this be too much iron and cause problems for me?

this may be an off the wall question but i had to ask. i bought a Body Wash that has Iron in it. i didn't realize it till i got it home..is it possible that this can be too much iron on top of other things i receive iron from?

i read this and made me nervous.so i thought i would ask

Iron is not excreted. The iron you absorb stays and accumulates in storage except that you can lose one milligram a day through hair, finger nails, skin cells and other detritus. That is the amount needed every day to replace the loss. One milligram, that’s all and for women in reproductive years, one and a half milligram. The other way to lose iron, of course, is by blood loss.

The other thing to note is that hemoglobin is not iron! Yes, you are anemic if your hemoglobin is low but that does not necessarily mean your iron is low. Indeed, what might be happening is that the iron is collecting in storage instead of going into hemoglobin. You are actually iron-loaded and need iron removed despite the anemia. The anemia should be treated with B vitamins, especially B12, B6 and folic acid. Many patients with anemia are dying of iron overload, and some are hastened to their death by their physicians who give them more iron.

Even a small amount of excess iron can damage heart and brain and other storage sites in the body and lead to heart attack or stroke. There is exaggerated concern when hemoglobin falls temporarily, following surgery, for example. Blood transfusions are over-used. A study shows that surgery patients who do not receive transfusions survive better than those who do.1
