In this video, Betty demonstrates how to make Healthy and Natural Granola Bars. These granola bars have oats, nuts, brown sugar, honey, melted butter, and a sprinkling of salt--all natural ingredients--no additives that you find in commercial cereal bars. Betty also gives her philosophy of eating healthy foods. Ingredients: 4 cups quick or old fashioned oats, uncooked 1 cup chopped nuts (I used 1/3 cup sliced almonds, 1/3 cup chopped pecans, and 1/3 cup English walnuts.) 1 cup firmly packed brown sugar 2/3 cup butter or margarine, melted 1/3 cup light corn syrup (You may use honey.) 1/2 teaspoon salt cooking oil spray Combine all ingredients in a large bowl, and mix well. Press into a 15 1/4-inch by 10 1/2-inch jelly roll pan that has been sprayed with cooking oil. Bake at 450 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes. (Mixture will be brown and bubbly. I cooked my granola bars 10 minutes in this demonstration, but they were a little over-brown; 8 minutes would have been better.) Cool. Cut into bars and serve on a serving plate or store in a sealed container for up to 2 weeks. They stay fresh for a very long time! These granola bars contain *only* healthy ingredients and are a great choice over a candy bar, which generally has no nutritional value! They taste great, also! I hope you get a chance to try them!!! --Betty :)
I am a vegetarian, so I don't get much protein.
And I'm kind of on the Fruit & Veggie diet.
Breakfast: Packet of original oatmeal with a banana. Water bottle (made with water)
Snack: 60 calorie Light & Fit yogurt and/or an apple. Water bottle
Lunch: Steamed broccoli and carrots. Water bottle
Snack: A couple fresh strawberries with a 60 calorie Light & Fit yogurt
Dinner: 2Bowls of Honey-Nut Cheerios(because there small portions) with skim milk. Water bottle
Snack: 60 calorie Light & Fit yogurt. Water bottle
As you can probably tell, I'm trying to drink A LOT of water, but sometimes I don't finish the whole entire bottle. And I know I'm probably not getting all the vitamins I need and stuff like that, but will I lose weight?
EXERCISE: 100 jumping jax, 80 crunches, 4 min on stairmaster and 15 push ups
* I know it's not a lot of exercise, but I barley have time, but something is better then nothing, right?
Thanks in advance!
If you want you can give me any tips to boost my metabolism and lose weight :) x
I am 21 and I am around 6' 1''-6' 2''. Last February, I weighed myself and was shocked to see 250 lbs. Since I am tall, I could kind of cover it up well when I wear the right clothing, but I still hated who I saw in the mirror, and I wasn't eating healthy or exercising right (I decided to just eat and do whatever I pleased). I made some permanent life changes. I eat much better, and I exercise much more. As of last week, I weighed in at 193 lbs. and I look much better, but I still have work to do.
Here is my question: I would ideally like to weigh around 170 lbs. I know this part of the loss (23 lbs.)will be harder than the initial loss of 57 lbs., but what do you think?
My average diet is
breakfast: piece of fruit, hardboiled egg, reduced blueberry muffin (I know it still has lots of calories, but I have to have some kind of treat so I don't go crazy), large iced coffee, vitamin
lunch: I usually have some sort of grilled chicken salad or chicken stir fry or something with chicken, or sometimes I'll have one of those veggie flatbreads and a medium iced coffee
dinner: I usually have like a breakfast sandwich (I know that's pretty ironic), some fruit, and usually a snack like trail mix or a granola bar, or I'll have one of those Lean Cuisine meals.
I also have another snack of a granola bar or fruit etc at some other point in the day or after dinner.
For exercise, I do 35-45 minutes of strenuous cardio at least 5 days a week, usually 6 days a week, as well as around 40 crunches and 15 push ups (I'm not really looking to build lots of muscle, just to be thin).
I also walk a lot in addition to the cardio. I would say that on an average day, just walking from place to place, I walk at least 3 miles a day, and as much as 6 miles a day.
With this, how long do you think it would take to hit my goal of 170? Any suggestions for improvement? I know the muffin and the two iced coffees (no sugar in them though) aren't good, but it is my one vice...I don't drink alcohol or smoke, so... yeah.
