Can vitamin C be absorbed in the skin as a topical?

Is there any real proof that vitamin c(or any vitamins or minerals or proteins(e.g. collagen)) are absorbed in the skin and the nutrients used by the body?

My question is concerned with the effectiveness of these lotions that make all these claims with the vitamins. I'm not sure if the body can unitize them(I thought it had to do it through digestion).

Any help or references would be greatly appreciated.

I am looking for multi- vitamins for my son who will be 4 soon. What is the best to give him ?

I was given Flintstones vitamins as a child. I am not closed to the idea of an entirely different brand but I would like the vitamins to do the same exact thing. OR should I just give him less of a dose of Flinstone?
My son IS an absolutely picky eater and sometimes I worry if he isn't getting his all his vitamins and nutrients.

Could you survive with just water and vitamins?

I know water is essential to the body. But food is sort-of a cloudy situation because the reason we eat food is for the nutrients and such. Is it the fact that we just need some matter in our stomachs? Or is it the fact of no nutrition being digested that causes starvation? Would you be able to survive on a deserted island with Centrum® or Flintstones Vitamins® as long as you have water as well?

Is there a professional out there that can tell me if the taking of vitamin suppliments is really worthwhile?

I am all for getting vitamins and minerals and the good stuff for my body, but I kind of doubt the efficacy of getting nutrients in the form of a vitamin tablet. I hear that the body only absorbs about 10 percent this way.

Why eat healthy if you take a vitamin every day?

I understand avoiding foods that are bad for us, but why do we focus on getting all the nutrients from the foods we eat AND take a vitamin? As long as we are eating some fresh foods, does it matter?
