Natural cures for depression?

Hey, my doctor was giving me some ideas on natural cures for depression- things that are precursors to serotonin rather than an antidepressant which just boosts serotonin

Here were her suggestions:
*Melatonin (@ night which I take already to help me go to sleep)
*Folic Acid
*Omega 3
*Vitamin B
*Vitamin C

Anyone have any opinions/experiences with any of these? Any input is appreciated :)

Thanks!

What are these vitamins good for?

My Grandmother takes a Multi Vitamin for Seniors that has Luden and Lycopene and extra Calcium with vitamin D . She also takes extra Vitiamin E & Folic Acid by advice of her Dr., She also takes Clucosamine Chondrotin she says for her joints and cartilage because she has arthritis very bad. She also takes Melatonin 5mg & Valerian Root extract 1000mg. She says she can sleep with these two. I am just worried that she may be taking to many vitamins.

Could you consider Melatonin and vitamin and if so, can you consider it a natural sleep aid?

I often take two Melatonin before bed to help me sleep, and it works but I'm wondering if it's even a vitamin? I know that our body naturally makes it but my real question is...could you consider it a natural sleep aid?
Is it good to take them, if our body already makes it?
