I just started taking 8000 mcg of biotin a day..Is this too much?
my dermatologist recommended 2500 mcg of biotin a day for healthy hair & nails..i could only find the 300 mcg biotin supplements at the local health store..so i got the higher dose biotin pills online from thorne research..its a single dose of 8000 mcg which i take at lunch time along with some b-complex vitamins. will this be safe and effective?
this isnt an question. its an ANSWER to prbly the most common question on here. "hair"?
i've seen soo many posts from people asking how they can make their hair grow longer or be healthier. and im just going to post this in hopes people will get all the answers they need right here.
first off, theres not "proven" way to make your hair grow faster. or so they say. but it never hurts to make it healthier. it just makes sense that healthier hair would grow at least SOMEWHAT faster than non healthy hair. so here are some tips:
1) take vitamins!!! E & B vitamins are especially good for your skin/hair. also try "hair skin and nails" vitamins. and you also might want to try some biotin. but remember, take these all in moderation. don't overdose.
2) chop off those split ends! people say you should get a haircut ever 4-6 weeks, but everyones hair is different. you should just get a trim whenever the ends of your hair seem frayed or you have split ends. that doesn't mean you have to take off 2 whole inches, maybe just 1/2 an inch or even less.
3) try and minimize heat damage. if you can, let your hair air dry naturally. and try and lay off straighteners and curlers. your hair doesnt have to look perfect EVERY day. personally, i just put some mouse in my hair and let it go natural and only use heating tools for special events.
4) eat a healthy diet. healthy you = healthy hair
5) try and deep condition once a week.
6) massage your scalp while in the shower. this stimulates blood flow in the scalp.
7) if you're going out into the sun, add a product that protects your hair from UVA/UVB rays. or wear a hat.
8) find a shampoo/conditioner that effectively moisturizes (sp?) your hair. i used to try and research shampoos before i bought them....but soon realized online reviews are POINTLESS. everyones hair is different. what may work for someone else might be horrible for you or vice versa. so shop around.
9) if you can don't wash your hair everyday. this strips the scalp of your natural oils and can leave your hair dry.
hope that helped :)
p.s. washing your hair with vinegar every few weeks makes it shiny
p.s.s. avocado or maynoise hair masques never hurt either ;)
Organic or natural hair care products for thin straight hair?
I'm very healthy and take vitamins and such for healthy hair but It's still thin and it gets oily if I don't wash it everyday.
So far I've tried Aubrey, Jason, Avalon Organics, Shikai, and all of the junky hair care products in the world. lol
I'm looking for some kind of organic or natural hair care line that is thickening and volumzing.
No worries about the price or if I have to buy it online, just as long as it really works.
Any help appreciated!

I's been using GROGANIC's and had hair in twist. Now my scalp itches often. Does itch mean my hair growing?
I have been using GROGANIC's products for about a month now.
Click here to see site ---> http://www.groganics.com/html/online_store.html
I use the 2-A-Day Healthy Hair Vitamin and Daily Topical Scalp Gel on a daily baisis. I also use the Deep Freeze Follicle Cleanser Scalp Absorbent Shampoo and Deep Freeze Scalp Stimulant Conditioner every week. My hair is about 2 inches long and I am growing it out to get cornrows. I let my GF put my hair in pig tails and they were tight. Not too tight but it felt fine. We took them out and combed my hair but the last few days I have been getting itching of the scalp. It is a good itch though. It feels good when I scratch. It does not hurt, my hair does not come out and nore is my scalp flaky, rashy or dry. Does an itchy healthy scalp mean that my hair is growing? Also has anyone else used Groganic products. I have gotten good results so for from it.
