Best Vegetarian Recipes l Lentil Walnut Veggie Burgers

How to make Lentil Walnut Veggie Burgers Video. Veggie Burgers are a nutritional alternative to beef burgers. Many people don't think of making their own veggie burgers but they are really easy to make at home. Store bought veggie burgers are nutritional but often very high in sodium and preservatives. You can substitute the eggs in this recipe with "flax eggs" which are a mix of 6 tbsp ground flax to 2 tbsp boiling water. The milk in this recipe can be substituted with either soya milk or rice milk. This makes the recipe completely vegan! Lentils are high in fiber which makes them a good protector against bowel cancer. I recommend organic, low sodium lentils if you are buying canned. They are an excellent source of protein and are an important source of B vitamins, especially B3, which is essential for both a healthy nervous system and digestive system. They are high in iron, zinc and calcium and are a good replacement for red meat. Like meat, the iron in lentils is better absorbed when they are eaten with a good source of vitamin C like leafy green vegetables. Walnuts are an excellent source of omega-3 fatty acids, a special type of fat that is essential for our bodies, but that the body cannot produce. (Re omega 3 see also flaxseeds.blogspot.com ) Walnuts are also a very good source of monounsaturated fats. Walnuts contain many powerful antioxidants, including ellagic and gallic acids, pus antioxidant phenols and vitamin E. The minerals copper and manganese are also ...

Please Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!?

Okay you dont have to read through the whole entire essay i know its long, but i need help on creating a concluding paragraph. have any ideas? Thanks alot!!

Throughout history a diverse collection of cultures have discovered a numerous amount of crops such as maize, sweet potatoes and pumpkins! Did you know that the Native Americans of North America congregated the Spanish at the Rio En Grande River and, offered pumpkin seeds as a peace offering. Maize was primarily planted by the Native Americans by which they planted in a conglomerate system, known as the three sisters. Sweet potatoes were initially grown in Peru but over time they made their way throughout the world specifically in parts of Asia, where precisely ninety percent of the crops are grown. For years experts have assumed that the people of North America used the slash-and-burn agriculture as well as many other farming techniques in order to cultivate these specific crops.

The pumpkin was one of the many foods used by the Native American culture as they entered into the new world. Not only was the pumpkin used for feeding aspirations but, also for purposes such as constructing mats which were created by drying strips of pumpkin which were then wove together using string. Pumpkins were also a significant component when droughts occurred considering the fact that they could be easily dried and stored. According to the Cultivation of the U.S approximately 1.5 billion pounds of pumpkins, are produced each year, making it the largest crop in the United States! Pumpkins are considered to be a fruit; as a result ninety percent of a pumpkin is water. They are also loaded with an antioxidant known as Beta Corotene which helps improve one’s immune system. Pumpkins are also a prominent part of a healthy diet due to the fact that it subsists of calcium, iron, magnesium, potassium, zinc, selenium, niccin, folate and vitamins A, C, and E.

Maize as we know today would not exist if it were not for the people of North America. Experts believe that the people of Mexico discovered corn 7,000 years ago! From Mexico maize spread into an abounding number of regions such as Peru and Southwestern United States. The Indians utilized corn in many different ways. For example, during one point in history corn was used as money in order to trade for meats and different kinds of animal furs. Early settlers grinded corn into meal, which they used to make corn bread, corn soup, corn cakes, and corn pudding. Eventually, corn was transformed using special cultivation techniques. Corn is essentially a type of seed which comes from a wild plant known as teosinte. Corn subsists of a large amount of carbohydrates vitamins B and C, as well as proteins. As you may know corn is a component of the three sisters. What exactly is the concept of the three sisters? The three sisters are the three main crops of the Native American regions, which are known as maize, beans and squash.

Sweet potatoes are a Native American plant that were used as the preeminent source of nourishment during the time of Christopher Columbus and the Revolutionary war. Sweet potatoes are an extremely nutritious vegetable; it contains calcium, potassium, vitamins A, and C and also proteins! Sweet potatoes were cultivated in the region of Peru as early as 750 B.C, when Columbus arrived

Of the three types of iron supplements, which have vegan (non-animal) sources?

Between ferrous sulfate, ferrous gluconate, and ferrous fumarate, the three choices of iron supplement, which one or ones are not made from animal products? I already know I need to take it with Vitamin C, b12, and folic acid/folate and I know to not take any Calcium or tea at the same time. I just need help knowing which kind to buy because I do not use things made from animals. Thanks!
By the way before anyone tries to pull a fast one, I know one of them is vegan because there are vegan iron supplements available online, I just don't know which kind they use. And I can't wait to buy the ones online because I need it now and anyway I can't really afford the extra shipping cost.
Thanks hardcore but I need it now and can't afford to travel or pay shipping to order online, and all we have in my town is walmart and grocery stores so I need to know the actual form of ferrous, either sulfate, gluconate, and fumarate that is vegan because I'll have to buy some generic brand.

Recommended Vitamin Daily Intakes?

Hello! I decided to start the New Year by increasing my daily amount of vitamins, and went to Wall Mart and bought three kinds of vitamin B (B-complex, B6, and B12). Knowing that I am already taking one multi vitamin daily and after reading the labels on the bottle it said they are for Energy Metabolism. Since I am working out and want to increase my metabolism (I eat a little bit more and gain weight), I decided to just go ahead and buy these pills. But I do not want to Over Dose myself. So, I would like to know what does it mean the search I did in the internet. See numbers below:
Age Recommended Allowance
25-50 Vitamin B6 Vitamin B12
mg mcg
Males 2.0 3.0/2.0

Biotin
(B-complex) = 30 µg Biotin in food and as a supplement No information found

Folate
(B-complex) = 400 µg Folate in food and as a supplement Doses larger than 400 µg may cause anaemia and may mask symptoms of a vitamin B12 deficiency

B6=Doses larger than 100 mg may cause numbness and tingling in hands and feet

B12= Doses larger than 3000 µg may cause eye conditions

B Complex = Doses larger than 400 µg may cause anemia and may mask symptoms of a vitamin B12 deficiency

And whats the difference btwn Folate and Biotin B-Complex?

Could someone, please, advise me how much should I take. For further info, the label states for each pill: (B6=100mg), B12 (1000mcg), B-Complex.

I thank you in advance for clarifying it and Happy 2010 to everyone.
Thanks, but can I take all three Bs I bought (B6,B12,Bcomplex) plus the multivitamin? The man at the counter in the pharmacy told me the dosages in these bottles are very little, but I have not explained to him what I was planning to do, maybe cos I was not sure if he was a real pharmacist! Any clues?

Prenatal vitamin question?

So I took a prego test and it was negative but a lot of people told me I took it too early and I still haven't had my period since July 29th (last day of my last period). I took a nutrition class and we talked about how important it is to have folate in your diet especially when you are pregnant. So I am sure that I am pregnant because I have never missed a period. I went and got some prenatal vitamins to take now until I find out and have a few questions about them. I use to take prenatal vitamins as a multivitamin for many years, and the store didn't have the ones I am use to taking. I bought One a Day Womens Prenatal vitamins. It comes with two different pills. One has all the vitamins in it (pink pill) and the other one has some polysaturated fat, omega 3 fatty acids and it says under omega 3 EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid) and DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) this one is a liquid gel. I feel stupid asking this but should I be taking both of them? I know when you get a script for prenatal vitamins it's just a big pink tablet. I am just trying to take all the extra precautions and don't want to screw up.

Also I was craving a salad with sour cream (totally wierd) and I forgot to take the pill and took it about 15 minutes later or so (under 30 minutes) and I started to feel really sick. Is this normal? I never remember getting sick feeling when I took the other prenatal vitamins. I have been feeling really pukey lately anyways and my smells have been crazy. I had to have my boyfriend cut up the lettuce. Is there anything that is better to eat when you take the prenatal? I don't drink cows milk and I do not eat much meat.
The prenatal vitamins didn't come with instructions. On each bottle it just says take one and that's it. Am I suppose to take them at the same time every day?
