Help!!! Re: Vitamin B12, B6 and Folic Acid. My Mother is suffering from early (thankfully) stages of dementia?

TrioBe PLus is a (drug) glorified vitamin which has been shown to reduce brain shrinkage in the over 70's by as much as 53%. This test was conducted over a 2 year period in Sweden.
I'm not about to wait until the UK FDA or such authority decides while my mother's health steadily declines.

Anybody out there have advice as my doctor sees no problem with taking vitamins but would not approve prescription.

Should I just arrange 3 separate tablets of appropriate dosage? Suppose this is a hard 1 to answer... TrioBe plus dosage = 1 PART Folic acid 800 mcg (4x RDA) , 1 PART B6 Pyridoxine HCI 20 mg (14x RDA) AND 1 PART B12 (as cyanocobalamin) 500mcg (200xRDA).

I have ascertained that these levels are still safely within EU upper limits. However will taking them seperately be less effective than the TrioBe Plus (drug)?

Regardless of what is said here I will be arranging this for her. But please any thoughts? Anyone thinking the same.

Many thanks for reading.

Is it possible to take an overdose of B vitamins?

I usually include a multi-B vitamin tablet every morning, along with other vitamins. But sometimes the B makes me feel nauseous and kind of jumpy. Those Bs can contain up to 6000% of the RDA in a specific vitamin, like B6. I'm a 40 year old male, physically active and in better health than most my age. So I'm wondering if I need to lower the dose, or omit it altogether.

is it possible to take too much vitamin B? If so, how much is too much/or too often?

I saw a bottle in the vitamin section of the store that said it was for energy, and stress. If I remember right, the B6 is for energy, and B12 is for stress reducing (or vice versa). I think the super "B 100" formula said it had 5, 000 % my recommended daily intake of B6, and 1,500% my daily recommended intake of B12.
well, i took one of the pills before I went to sleep one night, and the next morning I didn't wake up tired and grumpy, like I normally do. I was raring to go. What's the down side? I'm just guessing that you shouldn't *continually* take anything that's 5,000 times as much as normal. Is there a limit?

Type 2 diabetes and vitamin suppliments?

I'm currently taking metformin and glipizide and aspirin regiment. I noticed a "diabetes support pack" in the store the other day, could there be possible side effects if taking in addition to my meds?
Vitamins are:
A, for eye health
E & B6, for heart health
Lutein, for eyes
Cinnamon/Chromium Picolinate, for glucose and sugar metabolism
Alpha Lipoic Acid, to fight cell damaging free radicals
Slenium, to support the prostrate and immune system
folic acid, to maintain nerve function
Co Q-10, for heart health
vitamin C, for support to immune system

Will any of these counter- act the metformin or glipizide?

Also, is it true that ginkobiloba helps with memory retention? and could this also be used with the metformin/glipizide?
