Fat bastards who stay fat always lie about how much they’re exercising and dieting. “I can’t lose weight, exercise doesn’t work for me!”. Bullshit, you’re just too fucking fat and lazy to do enough and quit eating so much. Losing weight is easy. Less food, more movement. Try it. It works.
@thesparitan Well, I just meant that when you’re exercising you are burning fat and building muscle, so when you reach certain point you are getting more fit but you are not loosing weight. And yes, I agree that exercising is wonderful. When I’m 60 I don’t want to be walking around with a cane, I’d like to be able to do hiking and mountain climbing. There is the whole thing about feeling great too! :D
@pokemanz The problem with the study is that it is not long term. I know for a fact that if a guy weight-lifts and does aerobics, his metabolism will continually increase. If the study was over a 5 year period with a good workout regiment, I’d believe it.
so, if you don’t exercise you will still lose weight?lol So I should do…? This is why I don’t listen to what us Americans dish out. Such bullshit shouldn’t be taken serious.
@WorldPeace4All6 I would like to get over this misconception because I was under the impression lean muscle increased the metabolism, how did this come about?
@tyciol haha, I was at 235 and lost 15lbs on accident. I weighed myself at a Wal Mart a few days ago. I think I may have beat up physics, Now I sit and wait for the time police to arrest me :(
@VocabWord Even vigorous exercise doesn’t raise metabolism that much that it will contribute a significant amount to your weight loss. When we talk of raising metabolism, how much are we talking? I doubt it’s even 1%. If it was significant you’d be giving off heat and sweating. The benefits of exercise are the hormones that are released that help fat metabolism such as growth hormone, noradrenaline, etc, fitness and well-being, and the endorphins that help stabilize and improve mood.
It’s proven that cardio increases your metabolism for the time that you are doing it and lifting weights increases it for the day. It’s also already known that what you put into your body is the most imprtant part to any workout… this has been known for years, so whats new about this?
One thing that is not mentioned here is that the normal flora (bacteria and such) in the gut of an obese individual is different than a lean individual. In layman terms, the bacteria in the obese individual tend to have higher metabolic activity, aiding in digestion and increasing calorie intake.
Take this into account along with genetics, and it should be obvious why it’s hard for many people to lose weight. Exercise and dieting alone sometimes isn’t enough. Maybe some microbe manipulation too

@WorldPeace4All6 what a mature and well substantiated response.
I’m gonna interpret that as you admitting that you talked bullshit

@pokemanz Exercise can burn a Big Mac, you just need a lot of it, lol
November 13th, 2010 - 09:27
@boondockerz Pain’s the wrong word, eating healthy should not be painful, nor is healthy exercise.
November 13th, 2010 - 09:28
@1Mastermind1990 You can lose weight without exercise, but it’s much easier with due to the metabolic increase.

No you don’t burn that much more calories after exercise. That’s a myth. It’s not significant.
December 5th, 2010 - 23:19
@Esoparagon Depends on the exercise, actually.

@pokemanz Well, it could use the big mac protein and lipids to rebuilt muscles…
January 6th, 2011 - 05:00
its kinda the opposite, i lost 65 lbs from exercise alone in 3 months.
January 7th, 2011 - 00:30
Why is this even a discussion
January 8th, 2011 - 01:41
Exercise burns fat, sure, but it also creates muscle and muscle is actually heavier than fat.
January 16th, 2011 - 23:30
@YoMommaFoo81 But, its much denser, taking up less space. Since muscle mass burns fat, more muscle, more burning.

exercise + diet = temporary weight loss
exercise + nutritional lifestyle = permanently fit/healthy for life.
