Hi, I have sciatica and I have a question about this video. Is the extended leg the one that is in pain or is the other leg the one that is in pain. Also, do I do this exercise with both legs or just the one that is in pain?
Thanks
With this exercise you are stretching the piriformis in your left leg. After stretching it, I suggest mobilizing the sciatica nerve. I cannot post link here (YT regulations), but I am talking about an exercise called “Sciatica Exercises against Sciatica Nerve Pain”.
Basically you could perform the exercise with the leg that is in pain; but it won’t hurt if you do it with the other leg too.
this exercise does not work for me, and it intensifies the pain. So i really suggest people to consult their doctors before practicing this.
(with all due respect to the person who post this video)
This exercise which is also known as pidgeon pose in Yoga, caused me excruciating pain in the piriformis and this exercise I can no longer do. Literally could not walk after performing this stretch.
This stretch is dangerous to do without permission from your doctor… It strained my lower back in order to help my piriformis.. Therefore I do other exercies for my piriformis muscle rather then this..
OMG, i was in a terrible car accident and have had this pain for 15 years. This cleared it right up. I’m able to do things that i haven’t done in 15 years
@TheGreenLantern01 I am so glad this exercise helped. However, be careful not to over-stretch. Also, there are some other sciatica related exercises on the channel -check them out if you’d like…
@2diefor8694 Probably a few days if it’s a prolapsed disc. I prolapsed L4-L5 in 1994 and it took a few weeks to improve. But the injury never went away completely. I’ve got it for life and I just manage it.
@2diefor8694 This exercise only has fast results if your sciatic pain is due to piriformis syndrome, I have it due to a crap disc… BUT the pain means you are stretching it…which is good either way… is you pain gone now? I noticed your post was 90 days ago

Thanks.

Great! I am glad you like it!
One tip: go as low as you can with the extended leg, and of course make sure you are in comfortable position.
Cheers!

of course – as chrisevilmonkey (and author of the video) suggest – definitely consult your doctor.
Different exercises work for different people….
