Pt 1: “Level 2″ First Aid Kit Review by Nutnfancy
Part 1 of 5 //////////////////// My experiences in the outdoors led me to my Level 2 First Aid Kit concept. More capable in depth and breadth than my also-reviewed "Level 1" First Aid Kit, my Level 2 kit will weigh more and be bulkier but can better handle medium medical emergencies. The kit shown focuses on capabilities in ROL (Rule of Law) situations where the priority is to stabilize the patient and effect transport to better facilities and care (when necessary). In group or vehicular outings, the increased size and weight of a typical Level 2 is more do-able. Similar to the Level 1, this kit still has an emphasis on stemming blood loss, disinfecting, pain stoppage, wound dressing, and bandage exchange. Size and weight are still players in this 5 lb kit and I don't achieve the capabilities of Level 3 or Paramedic-level lifesaving kit. As I say in the vid, that type of kit requires medical training and its use comes with extra liability and concerns as a first responder. However I have the Level 2 kit shown has handled my encountered medical situations adequately and absolutely blows away any other kits I've encountered along this POU. Components of the kit and the foundational "Nutnfancy" philosophies involved are explained. An annotated list of my typical Level 2 Kit may be forthcoming (another project!). Compared to even a quality first aid kit, like ones from Adventure Medical Kits this version has more depth ie multiples of common use items which can better handle ...

@evanthemack I’m NOT sure but I think as long as its capped it should still be good would be better if seal was still on also i don’t know but I believe that your not supposed to have it over a specific temperature.

@evanthemack sunlight will degrade it hence why it came in a solid color bottle, but dunno about the temp it should say what best temp should store in

hey nutn, I really love the vids. I’ve been looking for that brigade QM pack, but so far haven’t been able to find it… does anybody know some alternatives for a similar price point or the item name?

I just read cayenne pepper can stop heavy bleeding, It can be put in a small container and kept in your kit. I thought that was cool…

Hey nutn used your kits as a model for my own and they have done well on quite a few occasions. But the last time one was used it was not by me nor was I present. After spending a while breaking down the kit to see what was used. I have now added an ingredients check list and marker and a primitive numbering system in the kit
Now when Im out for a while I can keep track of what was used and what I still have left and when I get back I can know what I need to buy to restock
just a thought

@coderedstudiosYT
Its not a Brigage QM pack, its called a Blackhawk Medic Roll.
Just googled it and found it selling in several places.
Hope that helps

Err..sorry thought of your comment while re watching the vid.
I think your referring the the green pack with pouches that roll up.
Thats an army CLS (Combat Life Saver) bag. Those should be available at many military surplus stores, or online.
Though the style he has is the older style, the newer style is basicly the same except its a little bigger and has a more boxy shape when rolled up.
The new style bag might also be called a T3C Bag.

@22004454 if you are looking 4 sumthing for alergies the best thing you can carry a strong dose antihistamine that can buy you time for just about all allergies but if it is severe you will still pbly die(eg.bees) however it can buy you time 2 get medical help but otherwise it will work for standerd allergies and poison ivy ,oak ,and sumac hope this helps and good luck

I’m not sure if this was noted in this video but when it comes to outdated medicine, or food for that matter. The expiration date does NOT mean it’s no longer any good. It is simply a sale date. Milk is a common example, a sealed container of milk, free of outside bacteria and cold, generally stay longer then the expiration date. The expiration date on most things is nothing more then a guide line for how long it’ll last. Most medicines will last at least 6 months after the expiration

I agree with you on the medication point, I have advil from two years ago, still gets the job done.

expiration dates is just how long a product will minimally last… I’ve used cream that were three days over the expiration date and it was perfectly fine, I did throw it out when it started to smell funny though
