Prenatal Vitamins?
I am not pregnant nor do I plan to anytime soon. I bought Prenatal vitamins from WalMart a few days ago. I am wondering if it is a good idea to take them or would I be better off taking OneAday Vitamins for women? Is there a difference in the two vitamins? I am pretty sure i do not get enough iron in my body because when I was younger I always tested for low iron. I have been pregnant before but it ended in a miscarriage, But the doctor prescribed me a prenatal, iron tablets and folic acid pills for that pregnancy. I am wondering if I had low levels or something and that is why I was prescribed extra stuff. I haven't been tested in a while for anything. So is it okay to take the prenatals and not be pregnant?

Many women who are trying to get pregnant take prenatal vitamins. They contain increased amounts of iron and folic acid. It is recommended that women take this before getting pregnant to prevent neural tube defects in babies (spina bifida).
You can take these if you are not pregnant, especially if you are trying to get pregnant again.

Prenatal vitamins are safe. They’re just more targeted to a pregnant woman’s needs. I guess their good because its specific to women so you can go ahead and have them since they are just vitamins and they will not harm you.
I think that in general women should take iron supplements. I take iron through perfusion once a month because my ferritene levels are low. Speak to your doctor about it, get your blood tested again to see if everything is healthy.
