Prenatal vitamin question?
So I took a prego test and it was negative but a lot of people told me I took it too early and I still haven't had my period since July 29th (last day of my last period). I took a nutrition class and we talked about how important it is to have folate in your diet especially when you are pregnant. So I am sure that I am pregnant because I have never missed a period. I went and got some prenatal vitamins to take now until I find out and have a few questions about them. I use to take prenatal vitamins as a multivitamin for many years, and the store didn't have the ones I am use to taking. I bought One a Day Womens Prenatal vitamins. It comes with two different pills. One has all the vitamins in it (pink pill) and the other one has some polysaturated fat, omega 3 fatty acids and it says under omega 3 EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid) and DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) this one is a liquid gel. I feel stupid asking this but should I be taking both of them? I know when you get a script for prenatal vitamins it's just a big pink tablet. I am just trying to take all the extra precautions and don't want to screw up.
Also I was craving a salad with sour cream (totally wierd) and I forgot to take the pill and took it about 15 minutes later or so (under 30 minutes) and I started to feel really sick. Is this normal? I never remember getting sick feeling when I took the other prenatal vitamins. I have been feeling really pukey lately anyways and my smells have been crazy. I had to have my boyfriend cut up the lettuce. Is there anything that is better to eat when you take the prenatal? I don't drink cows milk and I do not eat much meat.
The prenatal vitamins didn't come with instructions. On each bottle it just says take one and that's it. Am I suppose to take them at the same time every day?

You and baby are going to need animal fats, so try eating lean meats and getting dairy and eggs. If you’re lactose intolerant try goat’s milk. Fish is great and has your Omega-3s. Yoghurt and cheese are milk alternatives you can include in your diet if you’re not sensitive to lactose.
Leafy greens and dark orange veggies are going to give you folic acid, which prevents spina bifida. Avocados have good fats and lots of folic acid. Load up on the guacamole.
You’ll need iron, so get egg yolk, raisins, meats, and molasses. Iron rich foods are absorbed better with Vitamin C, so try having a glass or orange juice with them.
Make sure you eat three full meals, and two snacks.
It’s possible that you felt nauseous because of your hormone levels. When you last took the pills you weren’t pregnant. Babies make you puke, you’ll get used to it :)
You’ll also be more sensitive to smells. Simple things like soap and perfume might drive you nuts. That’s part of being pregnant. One reason we have a keen sense of smell is to avoid eating foods that are rotten or poisonous. Thanks evolution.
Read the instructions that came with the pills, but I don’t think there’s a problem taking both.
Try taking the vitamins with a meal so they’re not sitting on an empty stomach, or take them right before bedtime so you sleep through the nausea.
Congrats and good luck!
