Thanks erin. These are great. Your abs will go flat if you give it time and focus on the things that cause blotting like cabornated drinks.

Very good point! Yes, it’s true the carbonated drinks are not good when a flat tummy is the goal! Thanks for that tip :) erin

Surgery is your only option when your muscles seperate
February 26th, 2009 - 03:23
No. This is not true. Ladies – this is a myth. You can strengthen your transvers abdominis and this will do amazing things to rebuild your core. Also, when doing abs, don’t let your abs “puff” up – avoid crunches. do exercises that focus on internal small muscles.

i gave recently via c-section, will this exercise help? is this safe?
March 21st, 2009 - 00:35
you must get cleared to exercise from you doctor first. but once you’ve been cleared, yes, this should be fine for you. just really focus on NOT letting your abs “pop” up. keep them pulled in and down. hope that helps! xo, erin

Erin, can you please tell me how often to do these excercises? every day? every other day? also, if you do them with regularity, typically when would you start to notice results? thanks!

Thank you for that video. I am a first time mommy. I had an emergency C-section. My son is 1yrs old. I really haven’t worked my abs yet but this video will be very helpful for starting out.
April 13th, 2009 - 22:02
Not true. This is probably only true for certain severe abdominal separation.
April 20th, 2009 - 20:05
hi hon, honestly, you can do them as often as you like. it’s a short video, so once a day, 5x a week would be my rec. when most people do pilates they tend to see some results in a week or so. but those folks are usually doing full length workouts. use this video as a compliment to a variety of workouts!

I am three months post-partum with my third baby. I have a four finger length abdominal separation right now. Do you think this is too severe of a separation for this to work? Or should I give it a try?
May 4th, 2009 - 17:29
what has your doctor recommended? make sure you get the okay from them first… if they say pilates is okay then go for it!

Thank you for this- it is excellent. I had twins and was told that ab separation was permanent. Then someone said that you have to work your small internal muscles first, but no one was able to tell me where to start.
July 12th, 2009 - 23:04
glad you found it! yep, gotta work those little guys first! and make sure not to let your upper abs “pop” up. very important :) good luck, erin

I had twins and I had them natural Anyway, my top abs popped up, but I’m not sure why… I haven’t done any exercises… it’s been 20 month since I had my twins and I’ve gained 15lbs… And my tummy looks weird because the top is out more than the bottom… can this help me??? I would love to loose the weight but Im more concern about my abs looking like that thanks.

thank you!! I have always exercised & had a baby 5 months ago & have gotten all my body back except my abs–I am looking forward to starting this! I hope it helps!

I liked everything up until the crunches. I was told never to them by several doctors and two trainers. But that maybe have been because i carried twins. so my separation was horrendous.

Thanks for this video, I just gave birth 3wks ago and I just found out that I do have abdominal seperation. I am looking forward to starting these exercises to get me going in the right direction. I always did pilates pregnancy and wasn’t sure how to get back into it safely. Any other video posts or exercises would be most welcome. Thanks!

Thank you so much for this!! I just had my 2nd son 4 months ago and I didn’t want to have to buy the book to close the abdominal seperation. This helps out so much, I’m going to try this. Thanks again!
