Overdosing on Vitamins?

Well my mom bought the gummy bear vitamins and they taste sooo good. It says to eat only 2 but i end up eating like 10. I mean it doesnt say u must eat 2 it just says suggested...so i mean is it bad? to eat more than 2 vitamins? i never had digestion problems or had like poisoning sooo??

and i dont OD on pills...cause those don't really have a taste so i only take the suggested amount. But those gummy bears are like the only sweets in the house and they are soo good.

  1. Heard about, but never-never saw one.
And I do practise for about 30 years.

  2. hahah i did that too :)
    nothing happened to me

  3. yea cuz you can OD on that stuff…..

  4. You’re probably OK, but I wouldn’t continue to take more than the recommend dosage. Most multivitamins contain iron which can be poisonous in large doses.

  5. Just go buy yourself some gummy bears candy (not vitamins)! The right dosage depends of how much of the vitamins are in each one and how old you are. I think they are for children but read the label to be sure.

  6. you’ll be ok..these are usually just the water soluble vitamin. it’s harder* to overdose on these since what you don’t use you lose (you urinate the excess).

if anything, you’re pissing away your mom’s money by eating these as candy instead of supplements. (at the suggested dose, a tub of these should last you ~3 months, but if you eat 10 per day this will barely last you a month)

  7. If they are water soluble vitamins then NO
If they are fat soluble vitamins then YES it is possible

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vitamins#Fat-soluble

IF your vitamin matches one of these vitamins ^^^ then it IS possible to OD on them.

IF NOT then you are ok, just drink a lot of water.

  8. You’re probably ok!

You know, that’s why they put those in gummy bears.

  9. Yes, it is a problem. Vitamin A excess can cause headaches, skin changes, sore throat, hair loss, fatigue, and bone pain. Vitamin D excess can cause too much calcium, a loss of appetite, and a stupor.
The complications can be severe. Please follow the recommended dosage.
Just so you know, the fat soluble vitamins are A, D, E, and K. These vitamins are more likely to lead to complications if taken in excess.
I am sure you have no symptoms right now, but I think you should probably stop taking them. If you do notice any serious symptoms, then report to your physician.

  10. You may be alright to take that many for a short while, but I have to tell you, I overdosed on vitamins and didn’t know what was wrong with me. I thought I have some life-threatening illness, I felt s-o-o bad. When I stopped them I recovered. So take care. If you like candies buy some instead of overdosing!

  11. It’s the iron and other non water soluble vitamins (A, D) that you have to worry about. You can die from iron poisoning. There was actually a HOUSE episode on this subject. It was a good one. BUt I would stick to the recommendations.

  12. To do this once at this dosage, you’ll be fine. To do it regularly- well, some vitamins will build up and can be toxic.

EDIT- what the hell? why all the DT’s for my CORRECT answer?
