My Natural Hair Transition?
Im 16, Going into my Senior Year in High School.I've decided to go natural because I am a shampoo girl and I really care about hair growing to its full potential. I've only been natural for six months. I'm debating on the BC, but I do not mind cutting my hair.I've actually cut it twice since December and it grows right back. I believe if its damaged, there is no use of holding on to it. My hair is shoulder length and it looks very healthy and thick, but I no longer want to get relaxers. I have been getting them since I was 3 because My mother has jet black long curly and wavy hair and I came out with this thick coarse brown hair. She did not know what to do with it so she gave me a perm. Now I have a year before I go off to college, and I want to be all natural. I use tea tree oil and vitamin E oil instead of grease because it contails mineral oil and petrolum & clogs the pores. I use Creme Of Nature's Argon Oil Sulfate- Free Shampoo & Creme of Nature's Intensifying Conditioning Shampoo. I flat iron my hair once a month because I love wearing it down.i bought me some Chi flat iorns Other than that I wear sewins, micros or braids. My mother wants me to get a perm but I wont. My hair is really strong and doesnt break off, but my scalp will be ridiculously dry and flaky. I'm also taking Hair, Skin & Nail supplements. Yes, I'm very passionate about my hair :) I use edge control but i make sure they contain no alcohols. I deep condition my hair everytime I wash it.What I was wondering was, for any other naturals, what products are good that you recommend? I plan on going to the health food store soon, and I need to know? I dont know much about Carol's Daughter, Miss Jessies or ecostyler gel.

Carol’s daughter has a wide variety for all hair types and they work wonderfully. I went natural two years ago, and I’ve been using her products since doing so. I also found that Ion has a line of hair care products and so does Mizani(these can only be purchased with a cosmetology license, unless you can find an asian beauty supply store that carries them). Ion is the best if cost is a factor for you. If it is not, then I would go with Carol’s Daughter or Mizani. Good luck!!!

I HATE Carol’s Daughter. I’m 8 months into my transition and I tried the Hair Milk and it made my new growth really, really dry. My relaxed hair on the other hand felt like silk. I’d use it if I were going to flat iron but, I wouldn’t recommend it for naturals. It should be marketed towards relaxed heads.
I don’t feel that the ingredients in Miss Jessie’s are worth the money :/ it’s nothing special. That’s just my opinion though.
Eco-Styler is great. If you mix in some olive oil to it it gives a good hold with less crunch.
Kinky Curly Knot Today is the best product I’ve ever tried. It keeps my new growth moist for days.
Aloe vera gel is sooo good for our hair. It defines your curls and makes them pop without drying them out. This is my staple, go to styling product. It doesn’t have much hold but, it’s still really good.
