My husband has just started to have high blood pressure?
He is at home on a work related back injury, and his blood pressure is slowly but surely rising. We have just started him on a low sodium and low fat diet, We do not have health insurance, and are really having a tough time making ends meet, so seeing a doctor over it would have to be in an emergency. His blood pressure today was 143 over 103. When is his blood pressure at a point that we should get him to a hospital? Also, what other things can we do to bring his pressure down?

That is not high enough to be stressing out over. Pain will raise your pressure. As far as salt goes, you can find out if he is salt sensitive by taking his pressure then eating something salty & taking it again. If it goes up more then 20 points then he is salt sensitive, it will go up after any meal so some rise is expected. We NEED some salt. I was recently tested & was low on salt. Also threw out the morten salt & go to a health store & get some sea salt the expensive stuff around $5 a bottle, it is WAY better for you & has some minerals.
Raw ginger is good for pain & blood pressure. Garlic is good too for Blood pressure.
You say he’s at home from a work related injury, so he is covered by workman’s comp? If so call the doc & tell them what’s going on, it could also go up due to the pain meds. Feel free to email me privately I am a heart attack survivor,( Died twice)

That blood pressure is way too high what does he have to do have a heart attack before you take him to a Dr? It is really tooo high and there may be some underlying problems. When you are in pain it goes up but not that high. Seek medical attention asap !! Good Luck

That pressure is quite high, and if I was his nurse I would be sending him to the hospital, however I understand your money is tight and you cannot really afford this. Diet (you are right) and some moderate exercise. If he is overweight, then he should try to loose some weight, if he smokes he should cut back or quit. There are certain fruits that can possibly lower b/p such as grapefruits. Also having a high fibre diet can help. Drinking 6-8 glasses of water a day.
You should look on the internet for other foods that can help. Even if he could just get in to see a Dr to get a script for a med to bring is b/p down. Make sure you record the readings with the times and the dates and bring this to the Dr.
