Multivitamin overdose…?


okay so i know somebody who took 12+ one a day teen advantage pills containing vitamins b12, biotin, pantothenic acid, calcium, iron, magnesium, zinc, selenium, copper, manganese, chromium, vitamin C,D,E,K,b1,b2, niacin, vitamin b6 and folic acid..... what are the side effect and what could happen...

  1. Most of those are water soluble, so some will go right through and be carried out in urine. However the fat soluble ones can be more dangerous as they can build up to toxic levels and cause side effects. There is a threshold in which vitamins can be taken and at that point become toxic. Your body is pretty good at throwing away what it doesn’t need vitamin wise, but it will be awful on your kidneys. And could cause renal failure.

  2. Very bad idea. Its really hard to overdose on vitamins, since they’re made up of what’s found in small amounts in the body and in different things we ingest. Too much of certain vitamins can actually lead to deficiencies with other vitamins, and organ problems. Very dangerous idea.
