Medical Marijuana Use… Understand the Chronic Pain Patient Before You Judge

Marc from Mirror Athlete Enterprises emphasises... To understand why a pain patient would choose to smoke medical marijuana you first must be able to put yourself into their shoes. The only way you could possibly do this is to read the full article, "Medical Marijuana and Pain Relief," posted at MAE Health Repository (Health Blog). Marc intends to follow up with this article with two more... One that looks more at the science supporting pain and spasm relief, also addiction.

  1. what strain of marijuana is it that helps chronic pain

  2. ive been wondering the same thing , im injured from work , i have a bad back injury , pot helps , i never take pain killers and pills like robaxacet and prescription drugs are deffinatly not an option !!! do u have any insight on what the best strains are???

  3. From discussing strains with the experts in the field. You’ll want to distinquish… Do you need head, or body pain relief, or both. Go to co-op, etc., ask to sample the strain that most appropriately applies to your pain scenario, unless state law prohibits this. Otherwise, you will have to be selective and try to see what best works for you. The other aspect is weather the plant was grown outdoors vs indoors. I don’t pain manage w it. I do understand the benefits.

  5. thanks i have found that , indica based strains help alot , i was just trying to find the perfect one , a few people recomend northern lights, ill have to try that … thanks

  6. I think just about any strain in my experience. I have had CRPS (Complex Regional Pain Syndrome). I am 33, and I acquired this while injured at work three years ago (still going through work comp). Pot is THE ONLY time I get to breathe; to stop crying and hurting. Why should I have to choose between pain and something illegal? We need reform. Thank you for posting this!

  7. @louisvillepoet The beauty of medicinal marijuana is it is not only a pain inhibitor, but also an anti-spasm (muscle relax). The problem with any medicinal drug control and regulation is necessary to keep it out of the wrong hands (children). I totally empathize with you on this and wish you well. You shouldn’t have to choose between pain and legalities… Due diligence on this one of course.

  8. I understand that no one wants this or any drug in the hands of children or the wrong people/that for whom it was not intended. But, that has been and always will be somewhat inevitable; look at alcohol and tobacco alone and who gets their hands on it. The unfortunate part is that the fear shouldn’t keep marijuana illegal. There is no good drug for chronic pain on the market; period. With making it a controlled substance, like, say Adderall, we can make make misuse difficult with guidelines.

  9. WOODMARC, just wanted to reconnect with ya say happy Thursday and thank you for posting videos and discussing topics that so many shy away from. The more we talk about change, and what that entails, the more our voices our heard and the less taboo such topics become. Thank you for your bravery and courage.

  10. hey woodamarc, fuck you. i’m a soldier. i’ve personally bled for your children’s freedoms while you were cowering behind our nation’s borders getting stoned. i watched my friends die so you could be a free american stereotype. you’re weak-minded, you’re not worth dying for, and i wish i could trade you for my dead friends. thc is addictive. smoking ANYTHING can cause emphysema you’re no better than any other drug users, cigarette smokers, or alcoholics. sorry for my service to your kids.

  11. @VirtualBilly Thank you for your service. I felt compelled to reply to your less than honorable response. I know you haven’t seen my materials in full. If you had, you’d know 1) I’m a retired 20+Soldier. 2) I don’t smoke anything. 3) I’ve listed risks including, addiction, lung disease 4) I’ve protected “your” freedom of speech no matter how ugly 5) I’m not an advocate of recreation legalization 6) I provide health science info. I’m sorry for your loss, but attacking me is not the answer.

  12. @louisvillepoet yeah woodmarc, thanks for saying out loud that it’s ok to do the wrong thing.

  13. VIRTUAL BILLY: (more like virtual hillbilly). Until, and, only until, you have, personally, a chronic pain condition, do not be our voices and the person that judges these alternatives. I have CRPS (COmplex Regional Pain Syndrome) and I have loss so much quality and quantity of life because of pain and lack of pain relievers. Having this debilitating condition (google it), smoking this, medicinally, is the ONLY moment of the day that I can stop hurting and breathe. Pain you cannot imagine…

  14. Continued (to V. Hillbilly): thc is not addictive, do your research. Not physically or psychologically. How can it be the wrong thing when it enables me to love animals, smile, get out of the house. You have no right to curse, judge, and demean others because of your beliefs that are based on nothing; certainly not grounded in fact. Again, until you hurt, literally, every second of every day, you should close your mouth; ignorance! If you don’t suffer from such, this is none of your business.

  15. @louisvillepoet FYI: I left his post below as an example of an extreme view of the topic. I also gave him a chance to respond w some common sense. Got the same garbage back, deleted the garbage, then removed his access to post on this video. We are about pain mgt solutions. We can’t have this kind of negativity when lives are already full of daily challenges. Wishing you a pain free day. Stay well and excited about life.

  16. woodmarc: your response was excellent and very professional. I commend your honor, class, respect for other’s opinions, and the open mind to hear what others say. But, hate has no place in any opinion. Thank you for handling yourself with class and empathy toward others.

  17. Thanks for this…I agree that just a little bit of walking can relieve some symptoms
