Caloric defcit is not the answer, low carb diet is. Ketosis is the answer.
November 8th, 2010 - 23:06
@LittleEmoBoy001 haha no. carb cycling maybe, but cutting carbs and going keto will deplete your energy sources and your body will use some muscle as fuel. You may see the weight on the scale go down, but a lot of that may be muscle weight.

@LTMagic21
Wrong. There is an induction period and a maintenance period with regard to going low carb. The induction period typically calls for about -40 carbs per day I believe, to get one into ketosis, the maintenance period calls for 60-70 carbs per day to maintain the benefits. That small amount of carbs are necessary to prevent glycogen depletion, yes, but not for overall energy. Fatty acids replace carbs as an energy source in ketosis. Evolution shows the brain runs on fatty acids best.

@LTMagic21
Oh and by the way, carbs more readily store in your cells as fat than actual dietary fat does. The reason is because carbs cause insulin sensitivity. As long as you get adequate protein there will not be a catabolic effect of going very low carb. Catabolic effect only happens when inadequate protein is consumed. But low carb is a much better fat burner than low fat.

@LTMagic21
Oh and I forgot to mention that consumption of fat obviously replaces carbohydrate as the macronutrient of choice when going low carb. Anyone trying to do low fat AND low carb is just dumb.

certified personal trainers are only trained to a NVQ level 3 standard in the United Kingdom which is not the highest academic qualification for a personal trainer they are also only trained in health at a simplistic form
If you hold a degree in nutrition or something along the lines of a personal training degree then you can really call yourself certified imo.

It’s good to train in a hardcore manner and looking at healthy meals. But 1 doesn’t need to get too carried away! If you train hard, you’ll burn fat and carbs and look amazing anyhow.

Issue with America these days, is that to be in shape costs. To get into shape has to be a big secret, and exercise sites make it as complicated as they can, for a reason. It’s sad…
