Is the effect of garlic on blood pressure immediate?

I recently went for a Navy physical and I passed for everything except blood pressure which was high 142/95. Since then(about a week) I've been walking/running 4-5 miles a day. I've been told that if I took garlic tablets it would lower my BP, but I'm not sure if the effect will be immediate so I can enlist soon.

  1. Garlic is not an immediate solution. Before your blood pressure is taken take a couple of deep breaths and relax. Sometimes when you see the doctor you get nervous causing higher blood pressure.

  2. Fiber will also help, Cereal or fiber capsules not sure about how long it takes though, sry
