Is it true Vegetarian need to take pills to take the vitamins that meat has?

My friend said that vegetarians need to take pills that contain the vitamins that meat has like protein, I doubt it because I know that wheat bread and peanuts and beans have protein. Thanks! :D

  1. They don’t need to take pills but it helps them to get all of the vitamins and mainly protein that they need that they don’t get because people typically get them from meat. Pills are an easy way to get all the protein and vitamins you need.

  2. That’s not necessarily true. Vegetarians and vegans don’t "have" to take vitamins, but they do need to be careful with what they eat so they can get all the necessary nutrition from the foods that they do eat. Vitamins will help, however, but they aren’t necessary. Just make sure you eat enough of other foods with plenty of iron and protein, like in broccoli or beans or soy

  3. Just eat meat – that is part of a normal healthy diet for carnivores/ omnivores which is what we are!

  4. ABSOLUTELY NOT. That’s ridiculous…people don’t NEED to eat meat, we’re not carnivores. It IS important to make sure that you have a balanced diet that includes protein though. Keep in mind though, unless your hair and nails completely stop growing, you’re not protein deficient.

Trust me, I’ve been a healthy vegetarian for 13 years now. :o)

  5. Yes they do have protein but its not the same proteins that are in red meats. Its very difficult to be a healthy vegetarian. Just as much as plants humans have survived on meat for a very long time. You are essentially taking away half of what our body is used to getting. Taking vitamins are a good way to supplement the lack of nutrition that comes from not eating meat. Another good way is with Shakeology. Its a once a day meal replacement product. It is jam packed with over 70 foods from around the world. It is full of nutrition and will keep you healthy. It will even curb your appetite a bit because your body will get everything it needs. With that, you might slim down if you have anything to lose. You can get it here, through me.

  6. you don’t NEED to take them but vegetarians usually have to be more careful because unless they put a lot of protein veggies in their diet they will have problems. As a vegeterian theirs a bit more effort you need to do to maintain a good diet. If you can add a balanced diet without meat you’ll be fine. I also recommend you get something with omega 3 such as fish, fish oil supplements or if you don’t take fish as part of your vegeterian diet then consider at least walnuts or flax seeds. You usually get a large amount of omega 6 in veggies and while its a needed vitamin if taken in too large quantity without a decent amount of omega 3 (it’s more of a ratio that you need to keep in balance, vegeterians consume a lot more omega 6 so they need some more omega 3 to balance out) it can lead to some problems.

But yes, you can pretty much get any vitamins your body needs as part of a vegeterian diet, just make sure its varied and includes everything that meat lovers often already have ( proteins from red meat, omega 3 from fish…)
