Is it true there’s no point in taking vitamins because your body can’t break them down?

Hi everyone.
In my anatomy and physiology class the professor told us that there is no point in taking vitamins and supplements because your body can't break down vitamins. I'm a little disappointed because I've been taking vitamins for years. Does anybody know if this is true or not?

  1. Its always best to get your vitamins from whole foods but sometimes our diet won’t allow this. so we take multi vitamins.
your professor is wrong. have him show you studies that say this.
HOWEVER, most vitamins are severly lacking in their contents. i read a study once that said approx 95% of the brands on the market are severely underdosed.
supplements in general are a waste of money. not because we can’t break them down but because the cost/benefit ratio is way out of whack!

    absolute necessitites are:
    protein powder
creatine MONOHYDRATE (the other substrates aren’t worth the extra dough)
    fish oil capsules

everything else is IF you can spend the money, go for it. if not, then don’t

    good luck!

  2. You need to take your vitamins with food to help break down them down and for them to really be absorbed. What your body doesnt need will just come out in your waste. Most common is the thought of taking lots of Vitamin C to cure a cold. Your body can only absorb and only needs so much of each vitamin but it is definately important to take a daily vitamin seeing as we dont get the necessary vitamins we need in what we eat each day.

  3. Most vitamin go thru your system too fast for you to absorb them. I cut mine in half so the start breaking down as soon as they reach my stomache. another option are childrens chewables. they do get absorbed.

  4. You do need to take your vitamins but the fact is that if you eat a balanced diet you will get all of them from the food that you eat. Your body can only absorb so much of a single vitamin depending if it is a water soluble or fat soluble vitamin. Most vitamins do not absorb well which is why you need daily supplements of them (through food or supplements) and the more that is required will show how well the body absorbs that vitamin.

  5. Try taking sublingual vitamins that are absorbed directly into the bloodstream.

  6. Taking nutritional supplements is one thing, being sure they are actually delivered to and used by each and every cell of your body is quite another.

Years ago Infinity2 foresaw that the future of nutrition would be in cellular delivery. That is, assuring that the supplements you swallow are fully used by your body, and not just simply passed through. But nobody was successful in figuring out how to get it done – until Infinity2.

Our world renowned formulation team spent years researching the way Nature designed nutrients to be delivered. Their studies unlocked the secret of how to recreate Nature’s own delivery process.
