  1. First off, you get vitamins from the foods you eat and when you take it in pill form.
When you take it in pill form, it’s concentrate and your body will absorb the full amount (ex: 600mg). When you get vitamins from your foods, your body will only take what it needs.

Second, you have to know that some vitamins/ minerals have an upper limit, like folic acid 1000mg/day. That means that you should not exceed x amount, otherwise you can end up getting sick. Other vitamins don’t have a limit, and you can take as much as you need/want, like vitamin C.

Vitamins are available on the shelf for anyone to buy because they can’t be patented by pharmaceutical companies. Sure you can buy whatever ones you want, but you have to be careful because they can do some damage if not used properly.

Also, some vitamins work better in combination. I know that Calcium works best with Magnesium in a 2:1 ratio. This means that you can take all the calcium you want but it’s not going to benefit your body unless you have the magnesium to go with it. So for your 600mg calcium you need to ensure you are getting 300mg of magnesium (even just from food). It gets complicated so I would do some research.

You can’t just look at the label and say "that’s good my health. I’ll take it"… sure your body needs these things, but maybe you are already getting it from your diet.

  2. these are all different vitamins and your body needs all of them to stay healthy so yes, it is ok to take them both at the same time.
