Is it possible to consume too much Vitamin C?

Lately i have been drinking alot of orange juice and apple juice fortified with Vitamin C and my favorite gum also has Vitamin C and other antioxidants in it. The throat lozenges i frequently use contain Vitamin C. And i crave orange juice all the time, so to stop drinking it is kinda out of the question. I'm afraid that maybe i am getting too much in my system. Is that even possible?

  1. No. The body doesnt store vitamin C like it some with some other vitamins. If you get too much, you’ll pee it out.

  2. No. Vitamin C is one of those vitamins that your body flushes out regularly. Some other vitamins and minerals tend to build up in the body, which is why you sometimes hear that it’s not good to have to many of them, but you don’t need to worry about vitamin c.

  3. I took too much vitamin C one time and my body temperature climbed way high. It was uncomfortable, but (obviously) not life-threatening.

It sounds like you’re fairly conscientious about your diet, so you’re probably not off the deep end on the vitamin C.
    .

  4. Vitamin C is cleared from your body fairly easily. I.E. you wizz it out as long as you are staying hydrated. I suppose that if you consumed allot of C it could have bad effects.

  5. Actually it IS possible to consume too much vitamin C. For most people, the excessive amount ranges between 1500 and 2000 milligrams a day, and you have to eat that much over a period of time. You will be able to tell if you intake too much if you develop a large number of sores in your mouth and throat that resemble canker sores. The sores go away within a couple days of decreasing the amount of vitamin C consumed.

  6. I just yahooed vitamin c and it says the maximum daily intake of V C is 2000 mg per day per adult.

  7. there is no way you are consuming too much -oranges are not even the best source of vitamin C – and what you crave is sugar (fructose) from orange juice – dont drink more than one glass of juice a day -plus its better to eat your fruit than drink them.
too much vitamin C increases risk of creating kidney stones.
