Is it okay to take multivitamins while taking high blood pressure medicine?

My mother's 55 and is taking high blood pressure medicine. Are vitamins formulated for adults 50 and up safe for her to take?

  1. yes. as long as it was prescribed to you by a doctor.

  2. Vitamins are good almost anytime.

But if you want to help her, click on the link at the bottom and follow the watercure protocol – her doctor might even take her off medication completely in as little as a few weeks.

You see, high blood pressure is caused by dehydration.

When we don’t drink enough, the body borrows water from other areas. One of these areas is the blood, since it’s made up of 94% water. When it takes water from the blood, two things happen: 1) the arteries constrict due to less volume and 2) the blood thickens.

This causes the heart to have to work harder, resulting in high blood pressure.

Drinking more water and balancing it with salt will correct the condition.

  3. Most of the time it is fine to take vitamins while on other medications. However, you should be aware that vitamins with a lot of calcium (and some other minerals) can affect how your body absorbs other medications. It’s usually recommended not to take such vitamins within 2 hours of taking other meds. If you’re worried about anything you should consult your doctor.

  4. Yes – absolutely OK

There’s even some evidence now that certain vitamins can help to lower BP. Vitamin C seems to have this effect in many people and there has been a real upsurge in interest in the use of more natural treatment options for high blood pressure.

    Hope that helps
