is it Ok to take prenatal vitamins even though I've never been pregnant? What are the benefits?
I'm trying to make my hair grow really long and a friend said that prenatal vitamins would do the trick. Is this safe if um not pregnant? What are the real benefits?

Pregnant women grow hair because the human growth hormone being produced by the baby they carry, not from the prenatal vitamins they take. That said, a prenatal vitamin won’t necessarily hurt you at all, but it will also not make your hair grow. A good balanced diet and a regular ordinary multivitamin/mineral supplement will do much more to help you in overall health. Taking proper care of the hair you already have, and laying off the blow dryer, the curling iron and hot curlers will also do a great deal for it. The final length your hair can reach is determined partially by your genetics as well. So you might like to have hair down past your seat, but it may not grow that long. If you don’t mistreat it, it will stand a better chance of getting some length. And if you eat right, you have all the right materials to grow it with. But there isn’t really any magic pill that will do the trick.

They are rich in iron and folic acid, which you don`t need so much of when you are not pregnant. They will also make you sick to your stomach if you don`t eat A LOT before you take one! I would be becareful, and regulate my diet first if I were you or you may end up with too much iron and poo as hard as rocks!

I know for a fact that it is perfectly fine to take prenatal vitamins even if you aren’t pregnant, they are full of essential vitamins and nutrients for your body. It really doesn’t matter if you are pregnant or not, they are safe for anybody to take. I work at a company that sends meds out all over the country and we send these vitamins to men and women so you can take them :)

it is actually recommended that all women take a daily supplement, just IN CASE she gets pregnant. you need folic acid in your system (preferably at least 6 weeks before you conceive) as this helps prevent birth defects. it also has calcium in it that helps keep your bones strong.
speak to your doctor for the specific type you should be on.
but no, prenatal vitamins wont hurt you, only do you better :)

Prenatal vitamins are pretty much identical to regular multivitamins, only they contain a smaller amount of a few vitamins/minerals (I’m not positive, but I think they’re A and D). Those two, in excess, can acually cause the baby to have defects/problems.
If you want your hair and nails to grow, take biotin. It’s made specifically for this purpose, and it really does work!
