Is it ok to take a b complex vitamin and a multi vitamin?
I take a multi vitamin everyday, but I lack energy. I'm hoping to change that with the b complex vitamin. I don't want to overdose on b vitamins though! Should I get rid of the multi? If so, what about the iron aspect? Help!
Thank you!

depends, look at the multi vitamin bottle it should show you the vitamins followed by a precent. if it says b 100% then you already get your full daily value of that particular vitamin. low iron is a cause of low energy. maybe you need a little more sleep at night. try to reframe for caffeinated drinks after noon time.

Vitamins don’t give you energy, and they are rarely needed except by alcoholics, drug addicts, and people with bizarre diets. You need to check with your physician and perhaps a Registered Dietitian for some sound advice.

Honestly, choose one or the other. I take a multivitamin (one a day womens formula) because I need several different vitamins at one time. If you take both at the same time you could make yourself sick (especially if you are overloading the B complex). If the one you are taking is not working for you in terms of giving you energy, see if you can boost your carbohydrate intake. This should make a difference in how you feel.

YES it is perfectly fine. In many cases, large doses of water-soluble vitamins can be taken with no ill effects since excessive amounts are readily excreted. If you experience any tingling in your limbs or headaches, or really anything out of the ordinary (those are just the common signs of too much of any vitamin) then discontinue of course. But I am a medical ast of 3 years and work with patients all the time that take extra vitamins outside of their multi all the time. Like I said, just look for any side effects and discontinue immediately but I think youll be fine.
