Is it legal for a business to raise the price of certain items for tourists in California?
Ok, i don't want to be a whistleblower but im just wondering, i work at a vitamin store and my boss gives tourguides 20% commision for whatever the tour(the group of people the tourguide brings in) buys. In addition, my boss raises the prices on certain items in order to make more profit. Is this legal? i am just wondering, to me this seems wrong but i am not sure.

He can charge whatever he wants as long as it isn’t discrimination on the basis of stuff like race, religion, sex, marital status etc…

Of course it’s legal. He can charge whatever he wants. And if people think that it’s too much, then they don’t have to buy it.

Making a profit is not illegal.

there is a certain amount that he can only go up to. like the normal HIGH price is 5.00$ he can’t charge 10.00$… that would be price gouging.
but if he goes up during busy seasons and still within the legal limit of pricing then he is ok…
