Is it healthy to take more than one vitamin at a time?
I currently take a multi vitamin, and a calcium supplement daily. I'm curious about taking Omega 3 supplements.
I'm concerned though that it's not healthy to take all these at once. Can anyone advise?

Well dont your multi vit.have enough calcium in it?Either way Omega 3 is fine to take because it does not have vitamin A or c ect.therefor you can not overdose on anything..Good luck but the way I take Omega 3 and a multi vit.and its fine. :)

I take a multivitamin, Calcium plus Vit. D suppliment and Omega 3 suppliments. That, along with a healthy diet and exercise program (I’m working with a nutritionist who suggested all this), has brought my overall cholesterol down, my metabolic rate up a little, and just better numbers overall. It won’t hurt you to take the three you mention. However, you shouldn’t need any more than vitamins than that. And don’t forget to eat healthy foods too!

Shannon, if you are in your teens or even your thirty’s, then you don’t need any vitamin pills! they are for people who do not eat proper meals, like pensioners! A guy like you would get all the vitamins you need in your normal meals. Have a great day.

It’s better to try get the vitamins and minerals you need naturally.
Everyone talks about fish with Omega-3, but try adding Flax seeds or Flax oil to your diet. Flax is high in Omega-3 and is available in a number of natural breakfast cereals.

There is no known bad effects on taking food supplements. You should take them together with your food/meal rather than on its own. Of course if you feel that your diet is lacking in Omega 3 you should first eat those foods that are rich in the EFAs. Soya bean is one of them. Nuts are also rich. It will be best If you can eat the natural sources of these nutrients. Even though food supplements are necessary due to our lifestyle habits, but they may not be the best due to the way they are manufactured. I am an advocate of food supplements but first the source is very important. I am taking all vitamins, EFAs as well as other antioxidants and I have not seen a doctor for over 15 years.
