is it better to use matching shampoos & conditioners, or can you mix it up?
well I have NEVER been one to use matching shampoos and conditoners. i pretty much always mix it up, because I like a shampoo but then I already have a conditioner I love, so I'll use one brand of shampoo and another brand of conditioner.
But I always read that for "best results" you should use the whole collection of a hair care line , not just one piece of it. Is that really true, or are they just saying that to get you to buy more of their stuff? will my hair really be affected if I use UMBERTO Beverly Hills Conditioner while using VITAMIN Hydrating Shampoo?

Well, most companies include this because the ingredients in each item do compliment each other- so if you used a heat protectant shampoo, they probably based their conditioner to add more protectant ingreidents with it. Mostly though, it’s just a ploy to get you to use all their products. If you think about it, if their shampoo and condtioner worked, there’d be no need for heat protectant spray, or straightening cream, or frizz control serum. They want you to use their whole line and gain a following- so you’re safe, and probably smarter for using what works for you. As long as you control, or do what you want with your hair, you can mix as much products as you like

By all means you can mix and match for best results but by far the best stuff out there is Biolage
