Is Castor Oil Bad for Natural Hair?

I am black and I will BC in a few weeks. I know that petrolatum/petroleum products as well as products that contain mineral oil are bad for your hair, but what about castor oil?

I bought a grease and here are the listed ingredients: castor oil, mink oil, sweet almond oil, vitamin E, jojoba oil, parrafin oil, safflower oil, cocoa butter, propylparaben, fragrance.

Is that ok to use? Any suggestions on what I should be using to keep my hair moisturized

  1. That grease sounds really great. But from doing natural hair I know that shea butter works really well. Just pure shea butter tames the hair, conditions it, and helps define curls, as well as holds braids and braid outs.

  2. i use castor oil too. (: +& i dnt think it will damaqe yuhr hair. i also have natural hair +& i’ve been usinq it over a year ! its awsome :D

  3. The best thing for black hair is OLIVE oil. I recommend olive oil hair products…like the brand olive oil.

    That’s what I use.
