im 14 and want to start taking multi vitamin is it ok?

the one i want to take is from the brand body science
it is called multi-vma and has 30 caps, 1 to be taken each day
however,
i read the details on my local sport stores website and it says
This product contains selenium which is toxic in high doses. A daily dose of 100 mcg of selenium from dietary supplements should not be exceeded. Selenium containing products are not suitable for use by children under the age of 15 years.

i am already taking a protein supplement which my fitness coach said is fine for me to be taking which says not to be taken by people under 15 years of age..
im wondering if it would be alright for me to take them and if i do take them what the side effects may be

thanks

  1. First, anything taken in excess amount can be toxic. For example, Iron can be very toxic if taken beyond a certain limit.

I don’t see why you shouldn’t be able to take this supplement. I’d just go with the most reputable one, Centrum, to be safe.

On another note, protein supplements, and all NO2, etc products are basically a waste of money. You’re body can only use a certain amount of protein, and excretes the rest. You might be saying, well how much is enough, or I need to reach that limit. Wrong, if you eat a well balanced diet you will consistently obtain enough protein daily.

Don’t waste your money with **SUPER COOL WHEY PROTEIN**. They just want your money.

  2. Ask your mom if you should take them & lay off the drugs

  3. Kid, you need to look at what your doing,at this age ! Heck, eat more cabbage or califlower or whatever but pills and crap is not the answer. Bet you would do alright with a daily, 1-day mul-vit, the generic type is enough

I’m 5’9" and 59 yrs old, the most I did was eat good and mul-vit and I was in the Army for 22yrs and retired. I look good and very active and enjoy being able to get things done. It would do you more good to get in an exercise program to built up and get stronger. Sleep and rest proper hours and you could get serious !

Good luck to you, take her easy and enjoy it !
